Appointments
Future Clients
Most of VSA’s clients and patients are referred
from family veterinarians who have already examined a pet
with a potential surgical problem. If your veterinarian believes
that surgical consultation is appropriate for your pet, he/she
will provide you with the telephone contact number for the
VSA facility that will be working with you in the future.
Once you have contacted a client service coordinator at VSA,
an appointment time will be scheduled and specifics regarding
the appointment will be reviewed with you. You may be asked
to withhold food from your pet the evening prior to or day
of his/her appointment in case sedation or anesthesia need
to be performed. You will be asked to bring any medications
and a small amount of any special foods that your pet is currently
receiving to the appointment. You will be asked to bring pertinent
x-rays to the appointment if your veterinarian has not already
forwarded them to us. Your veterinarian usually faxes pertinent
medical records and lab work to VSA prior to your arrival.
Every new patient receives a consultation appointment at
VSA. Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by a client service
coordinator and asked to complete our client information form.
You and your pet will then meet with a nurse in an examination
room, where a basic patient history and your pet’s vitals
(body weight, temperature, heart rate, and respiratory rate)
will be obtained. Next you will meet with a surgeon who will
review your pet’s medical history and perform a physical
examination. At this point, your pet’s condition will
be discussed with you and further diagnostic tests and/or
therapy recommended. A detailed, written estimate for services
will be provided by your surgeon. Depending on your pet’s
needs, he/she may be admitted to the hospital for further
diagnostics, monitoring, or surgery. Alternatively, your pet
may be scheduled to return in the near future for diagnostics
and/or surgery.
For your convenience, you may
download our client information form and complete it prior
to your pet’s appointment. Please bring the form with
you to our office on the day of your pet’s appointment.
