Surgeons
Dwight A. Gaudet, DVM
After graduating from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1979, Dwight completed his internship at South Shore Veterinary Associates in Weymouth, Massachusetts. Following two years of general practice, Dwight proceeded with a residency in surgery at the University of California at Davis. Dwight has been in surgical practice since 1985, establishing referral practices in Berkeley and Lake Tahoe before founding VSA in 1992 with Jeff Todoroff.

R. Jeffery Todoroff, DVM
Diplomate ACVS
One of the two founding partners of VSA, Jeff received his veterinary medicine degree from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1974. Jeff completed his internship at the University of Pennsylvania and a residency in surgery at the University of Pennsylvania and at the Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Jeff has been a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons since 1980, and has practiced at the Concord hospital since 1982.

Sharon Ullman, DVM, MS
Diplomate ACVS
Upon graduating from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1987, Sharon completed an internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York City as well as a residency in surgery at Tufts University and the Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Sharon was a clinical instructor in surgery at the University of Tennessee Veterinary School for a year prior to joining VSA in 1992. Sharon has been a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons since 1993.

Elisabeth F. Richardson, DVM
Diplomate ACVS
In 1986, Lissa graduated from Colorado State University, College of Veterinary Medicine. She completed her internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York City. Following two years of private practice, Lissa returned to the Animal Medical Center to complete her residency in surgery. Lissa was a clinical instructor of small animal surgery at UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine for two years before joining VSA in 1994. Lissa has been a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons since 1996.

Charles M. Walls, DVM
Diplomate ACVS
Chuck received his veterinary medicine degree from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1991. Chuck completed an internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York City as well as a residency in surgery at UC Davis. Following his residency, Chuck joined VSA in 1995 and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1997.

Julie D. Smith, DVM
Diplomate ACVS
Julie graduated from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1992. She then completed an internship at North Carolina State University and a residency in small animal surgery at the University of Georgia. She became a clinical instructor of small animal surgery at Kansas State University for a year before joining VSA in 1997. Julie became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1997.

Leigh E. Glerum DVM
Diplomate ACVS
Leigh graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. She completed an internship at Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine followed by her return to University of Georgia to complete her surgical residency. Leigh joined the surgical staff of VSA in September 2000 and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in February 2001.

Andrew J. Staatz, DVM, MS
Diplomate ACVS
Andy graduated from Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1983 and proceeded to spend a year traveling around the world. Following one year of general practice in Seattle and 2 years in Santa Monica, Andy spent nearly 10 years in small animal practice in Los Altos, California. Returning to the Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine from 1998-2001, Andy completed a residency in small animal surgery. Andy joined VSA in August 2001 and became a Diplomate of ACVS in February 2002.

Martin L. Aitken, DVM
Diplomate ACVS
Marty received his Doctor of Veterinary medicine degree from Colorado State University in 1994. He completed a private practice internship in San Diego, then stayed on for an additional year of surgical internship in the same practice. In 1996 Marty moved to New York to complete a surgical residency at the Animal Medical Center in 1999. He spent two years after his residency at the Animal Medical Center serving as a clinical instructor and service head in the Department of Surgery. Marty became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in February 2001, and joined Veterinary Surgical Associates in September 2001.

Sharon D. Gottfried, VMD

Sharon graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. She completed her internship at The Animal Medical Center in New York City. She began her private practice surgical residency in Pennsylvania, then joined Veterinary Surgical Associates in 2001 to complete her training. Sharon became a surgical associate with VSA in January 2003 and a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in February 2004.

Timothy W.H. Sellmeyer, DVM

Tim graduated from the University of Missouri School of Veterinary Medicine. He completed an internship at Kansas State University and then went on to completed his residency at Mission MedVet in Kansas City. Tim joined VSA as a Staff Surgeon in 2006. Tim became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in March 2007. |

Nick Brebner, DVM
Diplomate ACVS
Nick received his veterinary medicine degree from the University of Montreal in 2000. He completed both a rotating, and a surgical internship, in a specialty referral center in Montreal. Nick returned to his alma mater as a clinical instructor for a year in 2002. He completed a surgical residency at the University of Guelph and then joined VSA as a Staff Surgeon in 2006. Nick became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in March 2007.

Cassandra received her veterinary medicine degree from Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. She then went on to complete a small animal internship at Garden State Veterinary Specialists in New Jersey in 2006. Cassandra also completed a surgical internship at VSA in 2007 and has now joined VSA as a Surgical Resident.

Marco Cervi, DVM
Surgical Resident
Marco graduated from Ontario Veterinary College in 2003. After a year in private practice, Marco began a rotating internship at Michigan Veterinary Specialists. He completed a surgical internship at the Veterinary Emergency Clinic and Referral Centre in Toronto in June 2007. He began his surgical residency with VSA in August 2007.
